PAIR THE VERBAL WITH A VISUAL

Using dynamICONs is simple—just think about what direction you're giving, and sketch the dynamICON that best matches the type of support you're providing.

Pairing our verbal directions with a consistent visual can help make our communication more clear, and concrete.

1) What's the direction?

Ask yourself, What do I want to help my student do?

Am I helping him complete next steps?

Do I help her progress in her work?

Do they need help with pacing?

2) Sketch a dynamICON

Draw the dynamICON that corresponds with the direction.

Next steps = sketch boxes

Progress in work = sketch a bar

Pacing = sketch a timeline
